His father is a prominent church figure, making the Lockwood family the white picket fence family. Behind the scenes, the image was kept by strict house rules. Dates were chaperoned, and entertainment was limited to gospels and church music. If anything, it made the Orion great at hiding secrets – especially his love for newscasting and journalism. He knew he was different in high school when Orion was kissed by another boy during a mission trip. It wasn’t something that Orion mentioned until he was entering college when he knew his education was covered by a scholarship. While his parents were already annoyed by Orion going to school for communication, the fact their son was gay was the thing that made them cut him off completely. Orion thrived through college, enjoying his time without his parent’s breath on his neck. When he was 25, Orion was working for the BBC in Syria as a photographer. While traveling through the rubble, an explosion went off – causing flash blindness. Orion’s retinae were permanently burned. His parents claimed it was punishment for his homosexuality when they found out about the accident. During his recovery, Orion befriended an equine therapist, Gladys, who loved Greek mythology. She told him his name Reginald was a bit too old-fashioned. She saw his photography and called him a sharpshooter and the name Orion was more fitting. When she passed from cancer, Orion changed his name with the help of some friends in the legal business. And with her family’s permission, took her last name as she was more of a mother than his own. Gladys gave Orion his love for horses, and he took that into consideration when he moved into the field of massage therapy. It wasn’t something Orion ever thought he would end up in – but since being blind, it gave him the ability to have a better sense of touch. It allowed him to find deep knots, as it made him rely on his hands than his eyes. Orion misses photography but finds his work in massage therapy fulfilling. He moved to Hickstead in 2021 with his niece, Gwyneth who was also disowned by her parents for her sexuality.
